Overview

In this role you will lead BrewDog’s Quality Control programs to ensure beer meets microbiological and analytical specifications while driving flavour improvements and production efficiency. You will manage the Laboratory and Operational Quality teams, set conformance standards, and steer new testing regimes. Your work will connect quality data, sensory evaluation, and root-cause analysis to reduce non-conformities. This is a chance to shape beer quality at scale and contribute to product excellence and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic management of the Quality Control function
  • Design and run microbiological, analytical and sensory programmes
  • Develop and implement new beer testing regimes to maximise specification conformance and safety
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality deviations
  • Handle quality incident management and positive release strategies for compliant beer
  • Report on quality KPIs and drive improvement plans across the business
  • Improve quality through data analysis, sensory training, and real-time control at the source
  • Qualification and maintenance of raw materials to ensure conformance to requirements
  • Involvement in new product development and investigation of customer complaints
  • Represent quality on the food safety management team and uphold FSSC22000 requirements
  • Develop and disseminate global quality control best practices

Key requirements

  • Degree level (or higher) in Quality related field (as stated)
  • Detailed knowledge of beer production processes
  • Detailed knowledge of beer styles, flavour chemistry and sensory evaluation
  • Detailed knowledge of Food Safety and FSSC 22000 requirements
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices
  • HACCP training (Intermediate or equivalent or higher)
  • Significant experience in brewing Quality Control and managing QC programmes
  • Experience in beer sensory qualification and manufacturing environments
  • Experience leading quality teams and driving operational excellence
  • Knowledge of data management and complex reporting
  • Proficient in internal and external audits and stakeholder management
