Overview

In this role you will support and drive the reserving data, systems, and analysis that underpinsSompo International’s reserving processes. You will collaborate with Actuarial, Finance, IT and Claims to ensure accurate data and robust reserving methodologies within the SRP platform. You’ll lead data controls, validation, and reporting to enable timely, reliable reserve calculations and business insights. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position with impact on regulatory reporting and quarterly closes, offering opportunities to shape the reserving technology stack.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design, development, and maintenance of the in-house Sompo Reserving Platform and tools
  • Execute data controls and validation processes
  • Collaborate with actuaries to enhance reserving methodologies within SRP workbook
  • Manage data sets for quarterly reserving process
  • Record and resolve data queries and communicate findings
  • Enhance quarterly data controls and validation processes
  • Refine reserving segmentations and update parameters as required
  • Maintain and reconcile highlights with Finance for GLSU topsides
  • Sustain central SRP reconciliation for SQL and Power BI interface
  • Produce quarterly Solvency II regulatory reports
  • Support ResQ SME activities and quarterly roll-forwards
  • Produce core and regulatory reserving reports
  • Assist with audits and stakeholder communication
  • Liaise with Technical Accounting and IT to investigate anomalies
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Build relationships across Actuarial, Risk, Claims, Finance, and FP&A to understand business processes
  • Learn and apply new technologies as the platform evolves

Key requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in P&C insurance reserving with emphasis on data management and system development
  • Strong SQL programming skills
  • Experience with ETL, data warehousing, and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and debug SQL stored procedures
  • Highly organized, analytical, and capable of independent critical thinking
  • Proficiency with actuarial reserving software and tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and languages
