Principal Fire Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead complex fire engineering projects across sectors, shaping safety strategies and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will work within a dynamic technical team in Manchester, collaborating with architects, developers and authorities. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development and proposals. You will help grow Jensen Hughes’ presence in Europe through technical innovation and client relationships. Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex fire engineering projects from inception to completion
• Develop fire strategies for new and existing buildings
• Conduct fire safety analyses (evacuation, smoke control, performance-based design)
• Advise on compliance with UK Building Regulations and relevant fire safety legislation
• Review and approve technical reports, calculations, and design documentation
• Liaise with architects, developers, contractors, approval authorities and project teams
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Contribute to business development (client engagement, tenders, proposals)
• Stay aware of evolving legislation, standards and best practices
• Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and technical forums

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• Ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards
• Background in fire engineering, preferably in a consultancy environment
