Overview
In this role you support a growing compliance and risk function within a London boutique law firm. You’ll help manage client and matter onboarding and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Working in a small team, you’ll engage in a variety of compliance activities and projects to broaden your risk expertise. The role is hybrid, offering London-based office days and ongoing development within a dynamic practice.

Responsibilities
- Perform robust client due diligence (CDD), with focus on corporate entities and complex structures
- Coordinate with fee earners to gather onboarding information, conflict checks, AML checks, and risk assessments
- Conduct screening (Sanctions, PEPs, adverse media) and monitor enhanced due diligence clients; update central registers
- Respond to AML queries and escalate to MLCO/MLRO as needed
- Manage a shared inbox for new client/matter openings; ensure timely handling of requests
- Support risk and compliance projects aligned with team priorities and firm strategy
- Perform administrative tasks and ad-hoc activities as required
Key requirements
- Minimum 2 years in risk and compliance, preferably in a law or professional services firm
- Experience reviewing risk assessments and client onboarding
- Experience completing CDD/KYC for corporate entities; exposure to complex structures is advantageous
- Experience handling regulatory queries in a law firm context
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent written and oral communication; strong analytical skills
