Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

As Mechanical Design Engineer you will lead mechanical design activities within the environment sector, ensuring compliance with BMS and CDM while supporting PMEICA and Civils design production. You will provide technical support to procurement and on-site activities, and oversee consultants and subcontractors. The role sits within a broader design and delivery team known for ambitious projects and strong safety and training focus. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, high-quality environments that meet project goals and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Produce mechanical designs compliant with BMS and CDM regulations
• Support PMEICA and Civils design production activities
• Provide technical support to procurement
• Support site activities as required
• Manage consultants and subcontractors design production

Key requirements

• Qualifications in a relevant subject at HNC or degree level
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM 2015
• Basic knowledge of subcontract processes (contract and commercial)
• Basic project management skills (programming, cash flow, resource planning)
• Willingness to work towards membership of a professional institution (e.g., IMechE)
• Water Industry experience (desired)
• Process Industry experience (essential)
