Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

You will lead mechanical and electromechanical product design from concept to production within a collaborative product development team. You’ll shape NPI and design improvements to meet customer requirements and manufacturing objectives. As technical lead on key customer projects, you’ll enable cross-functional delivery of innovative engineering solutions. Responsibilities

• Lead technical development of new customer and product roadmap projects
• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products from concept to production
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation using SolidWorks
• Produce specifications, validation plans and compliance documentation
• Optimize existing products for performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Testing and Project Management teams
• Raise and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
• Support prototype builds, testing and production handover
• Review concessions and first-off approvals
• Ensure designs meet applicable standards and regulatory requirements
• Mentor and support junior engineers

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Proven mechanical product design and development experience
• Strong SolidWorks CAD experience
• Experience with casting, machined components and molded parts
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Experience with APQP, PPAP and Design & Process FMEA
• Understanding of manufacturing ERP systems (SAP, IFS, Priority or similar)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong project management and organizational abilities
• Excellent communication across multidisciplinary teams
