Senior SHES Advisor

Overview

In this Senior SHES Advisor role, you will advise managers and supervisors on Health, Safety, Environment and Security responsibilities to meet legal and company requirements. You’ll lead incident investigations, data-driven SHESQ improvements, and audits to drive continuous safer operations. You’ll support compliance with SHESQ plans and contribute to safety-focused collaboration across project teams. This position offers exposure to civil engineering/construction environments within a proactive, innovation-driven company.

Responsibilities

• Advise managers and supervisors on SHES responsibilities to meet legislation and company procedures
• Ensure personnel understand their statutory duties and responsibilities and provide guidance as needed
• Aid management to ensure compliance with SHESQ Plans
• Carry out accident/incident investigations and recommend preventive actions
• Manage and analyse SHESQ data to identify continuous improvement opportunities
• Assist and manage the SHESQ audit programme and conduct audits as required
• Participate in working groups, forums, committees and joint consultations affecting the workforce
• Monitor equipment and implement best practices and innovations within the business unit

Key requirements

• Previous experience in a SHES advisor, Health & Safety or similar role
• Experience in civil engineering/construction
• NEBOSH qualification (SHES Membership)
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 standards
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel
