Regional Underwriting Manager

Overview

In this role you lead regional underwriting teams to uphold regulatory and internal standards while driving growth. You align case and portfolio management with strategic objectives and mentor underwriters to strengthen capability. You champion process improvements, audit discipline, and stakeholder engagement to deliver consistent performance across the region. This position offers impact through shaping regional underwriting practices and contributing to the company’s growth. You will work closely with brokers and cross-functional partners to enable transformational outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Audit and compliance oversight: lead and coordinate audits, ensure action closure, and maintain regulatory alignment.
• Case and portfolio management: oversee allocation, review, and progression of renewals, new and large/complex cases, CAT tracking, and issue resolution.
• Leadership and collaboration: mentor underwriters, lead meetings, support recruitment, and drive team development.
• Reporting and performance monitoring: generate and interpret metrics, prepare management updates, and enable data-driven decisions.
• Process improvement and strategic initiatives: drive enhancements, participate in budgeting and broker engagement, and support strategic planning.

Key requirements

• Proven experience in audit and compliance oversight within insurance.
• Deep knowledge of underwriting processes and portfolio/case management including complex and large cases.
• Analytical skills for reporting on performance metrics and leading indicators.
• Strong leadership and people management, with recruitment support and cross-team collaboration.
• Process improvement mindset with a record of driving operational enhancements and strategic projects.
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management.
• Good organizational and prioritisation skills managing multiple cases and projects.
• Experience in budgeting, planning, and continuous improvement is desirable.
• Minimum 10 years relevant underwriting experience.
