New Business P&C Underwriter

Overview

As Commercial Combined Underwriter at Arch in Glasgow, you will drive income and profit by delivering efficient Property & Casualty underwriting for brokers. You’ll work to align with regional strategy, technical management and personal objectives, while building strong broker relationships and contributing to market intelligence. Your role sits at the crossroads of underwriting, relationship management and cross-functional collaboration with claims and surveyors. This is a chance to shape regional growth through underwriting excellence and collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Generate Property & Casualty New Business within risk appetite and underwriting authority
• Follow the 4 Call Process to maximise opportunities
• Meet Bottom Line, Top Line and Expense KPIs for the region
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers to enhance Arch’s local presence
• Negotiate effectively to support broker conversions
• Provide market and technical intelligence to Regional Manager and team
• Collaborate with claims and surveyor teams as required

Key requirements

• At least 2 years’ underwriting experience
• New Business underwriting experience preferred
• Proven broker relationships
• Proven track record in underwriting development
• Strong negotiation and selling skills
• Pricing of risk appropriate to the portfolio
• Experience working in cross-functional, matrix organisations
• Clear and effective communication
