Digital Design Lead (Mechanical)

Overview

In this role you will lead the mechanical digital design within HDR’s Building Engineering Services. You’ll own the discipline model and BIM output, aligning with the Digital Delivery Plan to support efficient, integrated project delivery. You’ll work with cross-discipline teams to ensure accurate models, drawings, and documentation that meet project scope and standards. This is a chance to shape digital workflows, improve model health, and contribute to sustainable, high‑impact facilities.

Responsibilities

• Own and generate the discipline BIM elements according to the Level of Development (LOD) and project scope
• Create and maintain the discipline model, systems, content, and digital delivery output
• Demonstrate advanced use of software to produce designs and deliverables
• Understand and integrate architectural/engineering documentation and interaction with other discipline models
• Model BIM elements with appropriate constraints in the 3D environment
• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and diagrams within project scope, schedule, and budget
• Maintain discipline model data (coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, views, sheets)
• Produce discipline-specific documentation with proper annotations
• Monitor and improve company standards and model health
• Coordinate design with other discipline models via Design Reviews and 3D Coordination
• Execute all Digital Delivery requirements identified on the project

Key requirements

• Technical degree / HND / HNC or a combination of education and related industry experience
• Minimum 6 years related industry experience
• Advanced skillset of Revit and document management infrastructure including ACC / Forma
• Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools including ACC / Forma & Navisworks
• Competency in Microsoft Office products and communication tools
• Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
• Knowledge of ISO19650 and discipline codes and specifications
• Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational traits
• Experience on single large or multiple smaller projects
