Deputy General Counsel – Lincoln International

Overview

As Deputy General Counsel, you will lead UK and European legal operations from London, providing day-to-day legal support and strategic guidance to the business. You will collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to manage regulatory compliance, disputes, M&A, and contracting across the region. This role sits within the global legal team, shaping governance, risk, and policy for UK/Europe. You will drive high-impact projects, training, and budget management to enable growth with strong compliance. A strong international perspective and autonomous execution are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide general legal support and strategic input for UK/European operations
• Lead FCA, FINRA, and broker-dealer regulatory matters and compliance programs
• Support data privacy and sustainability reporting initiatives
• Manage employee-related matters, disputes, and UK/European M&A transactions
• Draft/oversee contracting across the UK/Europe and supervise others
• Develop and deliver training on legal and compliance topics
• Coordinate insurance, corporate governance, and records management
• Assist with budgeting for UK/European legal operations
• Collaborate with Global GC and regional senior leaders on cross-border matters

Key requirements

• 10–12 years post-qualification experience in general corporate and/or M&A law
• Current UK practicing certificate
• Strong knowledge of UK legal frameworks; familiarity with France or Germany preferred
• Fluent or native English; French or German language ability preferred but not required
• Experience in law firm and/or in-house settings, with cross-border exposure
• Ability to work autonomously and interact with senior stakeholders
