Overview

As a Support Engineer at Citi, you will sustain and optimize a large-scale data platform that powers critical business analytics worldwide. You will collaborate with a global, follow-the-sun team to ensure 24/7 availability, automate operations, and improve data quality for reporting. You’ll tackle issues across Hadoop, Spark, and SQL workloads, driving reliability and operational excellence at enterprise scale. You will work closely with developers, infrastructure, and business users to deliver impactful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the platform, perform daily health checks, and maintain 24/7 coverage across regions
• Troubleshoot issues across Hadoop, Spark, databases, and data processing jobs and coordinate with other teams
• Manage and investigate failures in thousands of automated jobs and implement fixes with development teams
• Ensure data quality through checks and reconciliations for accurate business reporting
• Drive operational improvements by automating repetitive tasks and increasing platform reliability
• Communicate with both technical teams and business users in clear, simple terms
• Lead incident resolution during critical events and coordinate multi-team responses
• Share knowledge and mentor newer team members on technical challenges

Key requirements

• Support experience in application or platform support roles
• Linux proficiency and command-line troubleshooting
• SQL experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• Experience with job schedulers like Autosys, Control-M, or similar
• Scripting ability in Python, Perl, or Shell
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
