MEP LEAD – DATA CENTRE – MANCHESTER

Overview

As MEP Lead you drive the design, coordination and delivery of MEP systems for mission-critical data centres in Manchester. You ensure safety, reliability and energy efficiency while scaling infrastructure to meet demand. You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with contractors and keep projects on schedule from construction to handover. This role offers hands-on leadership in a state-of-the-art data centre environment with a clear impact on uptime and performance. You’ll be pivotal to delivering high-availability facilities at scale.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end MEP lifecycle onsite from construction through testing, commissioning and handover
• Provide expert guidance on power distribution, HVAC, cooling, fire suppression and BMS
• Coordinate daily with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to resolve clashes and maintain schedule
• Ensure onsite installations comply with UK regulations, industry best practices and health & safety standards
• Oversee contractor performance, review submittals and manage local resources within budget

Key requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on MEP experience in data centre construction or mission-critical environments
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field (UK certifications a plus)
• Deep understanding of high-availability power systems (UPS, generators, switchgear) and advanced cooling (chilled water, CRAH/HAC)
• Ability to work permanently onsite in Manchester
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills with a track record of managing site teams
