Overview
As a Power Systems Engineer, you will design and integrate robust power architectures for autonomous, unmanned platforms used in extreme Arctic environments. You will develop rugged energy solutions that sustain long-duration operation in harsh conditions, collaborating with electronics, firmware, and mechanical teams. Your work will focus on reliable power delivery, energy storage, and fail-safe performance for mission-critical systems. This role offers hands-on development with a clear impact on field-ready platforms.
Responsibilities
- Architect power distribution and conversion systems for autonomous drones and remote sensor platforms
- Develop ruggedised uninterruptible power solutions and redundancy schemes for mission critical electronics
- Select components and design power modules suitable for sub-zero and high vibration environments
- Perform simulation, analysis and validation of power circuits and energy storage subsystems
- Collaborate with electronics, firmware and mechanical teams for system-level power integration
- Support environmental testing, field qualification and performance assessment
- Document designs, test plans and engineering reports for internal and external stakeholders
Key requirements
- Background in power electronics, energy systems or hardware design
- Experience in DC-DC converters, battery systems, UPS design or harsh environment electronics
- Ability to develop system-level architectures and work across multidisciplinary teams
- Practical testing, fault finding and validation experience (desirable)
- Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
