Commissioning Engineer – Fire Alarm Systems

Overview

In this role you will commission, configure and test fire detection systems to high industry standards across London and surrounding areas. You will generate precise commissioning documentation and support installation engineers with technical guidance. You will liaise with clients and project teams to ensure smooth handover and resolve commissioning issues. This position offers a clear impact on system reliability and customer service, with travel and a company vehicle to support field work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system cause-and-effect testing and validate correct operation
• Produce commissioning reports, documentation, and handover packs
• Provide technical guidance to installation engineers
• Liaise with clients, site managers, and project teams to ensure timely delivery
• Diagnose and fix commissioning-related issues
• Participate in call-out rota (additional pay)
• Work with open and closed-protocol systems
• Maintain ECS/CSCS accreditation
• Commission in large commercial, industrial, or multi-site environments

Key requirements

• Strong knowledge of Gent and Advanced fire alarm panels
• Good knowledge of BS 5839 with relevant certifications (FIA, Zzeus, etc.)
• Full driving licence
• Experience with large-scale commercial/industrial/multi-site commissioning
• ECS/CSCS accreditation
• Experience with various protocol systems (open/closed)
