Project Quantity Surveyor – Rail Infrastructure

Overview

In this role you will oversee commercial delivery on a major civil engineering project—in West London, a rail depot for a transport client. You will work within a main contractor environment, driving payment applications, cost/value reporting, and sub‑contract management. You’ll collaborate with client and site teams to ensure timely payments, accurate forecasting, and robust final accounts. This is a hands-on commercial role that shapes project financials and stakeholder outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Submit payment applications promptly and secure entitlements
• Ensure payments align with contract terms
• Submit tender information and support bid processes
• Present Final Accounts and negotiate entitlements
• Provide weekly cost/value data and KPI reporting
• Prepare monthly cost/value reconciliations and forecast costs
• Draft forward work schedules and cash flows
• Procure and manage Sub-contract Orders
• Manage Sub-contractors’ commercial activity through to Final Accounts
• Provide commercial support to site, estimating, and procurement teams
• Liaise with client on commercial matters and supporting information
• Prepare documentation for variations, claims, and additional payments

Key requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar
• At least 5 years post-graduate experience
• Experience with main contractor environments
• Rail project experience preferred
• Experience with NEC and JCT contracts (preferred but not essential)
• Experience on major projects and managing multiple sub-contract packages
