Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview

In this role you act as the client-side electrical technical authority for VDC design projects, guiding design direction and leading consultants to align with standard and customer needs. You oversee from feasibility through to operations, collaborating across teams to deliver cost-effective, high-quality infrastructure. You shape future electrical designs in response to evolving requirements and technologies, and you help drive profitability and project success. This is a growth-focused position in a mission-critical engineering group at Vantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for feasibility, test-fit, and concept design
• Manage external electrical engineering partners and set technical direction
• Collaborate with product teams on future electrical design solutions
• Drive project milestones and act as client-side authority on design direction
• Review design consultant submittals, RFIs, and studies during construction
• Site visits for field investigations and coordination
• Develop standardized, optimized electrical equipment for OFCI inventory and support procurement
• Generate high-value engineering ideas and perform cost-benefit analysis
• Engage internal/external partners to share lessons and resolve recurring issues
• Deliver designs using DfMA principles and modular, reusable solutions
• Develop fungible building blocks for scalable design across projects
• Represent the business in customer technical workshops
• Provide weekly design progress updates to leadership
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines to optimize delivery to Operations

Key requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• 10 years of experience in electrical power design and construction (15+ years preferred)
• Accredited engineering credentials preferred (Chartered Engineer in EU / Professional Engineer in NA)
• Mission Critical design/construction or customer-side experience (5+ years preferred)
• Experience with EU construction markets & regulations
• Proficiency in BlueBeam, Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud
• Understanding of BIM, Revit and Navisworks
• Knowledge of critical power infrastructure in data center projects (external power to racks)
• HV/MV substations design basics and interfaces with utility/buildings
• Knowledge of building and fire codes including IEC standards
• Travel 10–15% (may increase)
