Overview

As Associate Director, you will lead cost control on complex defence infrastructure programmes, shaping controls strategy and improving project performance. You will mentor teams, embed cost processes, and provide expert reporting and earned value insights to enable informed decision-making. The role offers cross-functional collaboration and opportunities to influence national cost control capability while working within a respected global advisory firm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop teams of Cost Control professionals on complex projects
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost control and interfacing project controls
  • Maintain relationships with Finance, Commercial and Project Managers for information alignment
  • Roll out cost control process changes and ensure effective implementation
  • Select and maintain cost control systems to meet client needs
  • Mentor the Cost Controller team and provide guidance
  • Develop reporting tools and cost reports including earned value evaluation
  • Define forecast methods to cover residual work and ETC/EAC with supply chain data
  • Provide SME guidance for Cost Control to Turner & Townsend and clients
  • Present performance recovery recommendations to stakeholders
  • Contribute to Cost Control training material and communities of practice
  • Support National Cost Control Lead and recruitment to grow capability

Key requirements

  • Extensive lead Cost Control experience with management responsibility
  • Experience in a project environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Earned Value Management (EVM) understanding
  • Strong ability to challenge and influence
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS applications
  • Good understanding of how Scheduling, Risk, Reporting, and Change interact with Cost Control
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience
  • Experience implementing Cost Control processes and procedures
  • Clear understanding of differences between Cost Control and Finance
