Overview
As Content Manager you will shape Chelsea’s official app and website content to engage fans globally. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class written and video content, including interactive features, on matchdays and beyond. You will drive editorial planning, leverage performance data, and identify fresh storytelling opportunities to amplify the club’s moments. This role offers a strong impact on fan engagement and brand storytelling across owned digital channels.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day management of the Chelsea Official App, focusing on home section curation and push notifications
- Produce engaging written and video content for Chelsea channels to tell the club story
- Collaborate with Website and App Content Team, Social Media and Video teams on content production
- Create content for a global audience to drive supporter engagement and attract new fans
- Contribute to editorial planning to align with football, commercial, and club moments
- Interview players to create varied content strands for Chelsea channels
- Report on pre- and post-match press conferences with strict deadlines
- Provide best-in-class coverage of home and away fixtures with reactive, precise execution
- Identify trending topics for stories and proactively seek new opportunities across the club ecosystem
- Create interactive app features (quizzes, polls) and deliver partner and commercial activations
- Work on first-team games including travel requirements and live matchday editorial decisions
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality control and brand consistency
- Optimize content presentation, placement and user journeys; use data to improve programming
- Review external football/sport/media platforms for new content approaches
- Work with KPIs across Digital, Marketing and Commercial to support club objectives
Key requirements
- Degree in a relevant field or NCTJ qualification
- Proven experience in football media
- Strong editorial judgement
- Experience working under strict deadlines in a fast-paced media environment
- Extensive CMS experience for publishing content
- Capable writer for diverse audiences
- Experience dealing with high-profile personalities
- Comprehensive understanding of digital media and professional football
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Experience collaborating with product teams on fan-facing tools and projects
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable making editorial decisions in live matchday environments
