Overview

As Commercial Finance Analyst, you partner with senior operational and commercial stakeholders to translate complex financial data into actionable insights that influence profitability, productivity, and service performance. You will work across commercial finance, operations, and procurement to drive continuous improvement and better decision-making. This hybrid role blends analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering to shape financial outcomes at scale. You will engage with cross-functional teams to uncover opportunities and automate reporting where possible.

Responsibilities

• Produce weekly and monthly financial reporting across revenue, costs, margins and operational KPIs
• Analyze performance against budget, forecast and prior periods to identify operational drivers
• Partner with regional managers, operations managers and service teams to improve financial and operational performance
• Provide insight into route profitability, labour productivity, utilisation and cost-to-serve
• Develop and maintain KPI dashboards (revenue per engineer, jobs per day, route efficiency, cost per service)
• Support budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes (accruals, prepayments, cost allocations)
• Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, HR and Finance to improve supplier performance and cost efficiency
• Analyze temporary labour, overtime, subcontractor and consumable costs to identify savings opportunities
• Challenge assumptions and use data to drive operational efficiency and commercial improvement
• Extract, manipulate and analyse large data volumes from finance and operational systems
• Improve reporting via automation, standardisation and collaboration with BI/Data teams
• Support financial controls, governance and audit requirements

Key requirements

• Analytical, commercially curious and confident with stakeholders
• Experience in a commercial finance, management reporting or analytical role
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
• Advanced Excel capability
• Experience turning large data sets into actionable insights
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence to challenge constructively and ask the right questions
