Project Manager – Network Rail Station Upgrades, Bridges & Structures up to 40m – Birmingham & Exeter

Overview

In this role you will lead civil rail projects for a major contractor, initially in Birmingham and later Exeter. You will drive project delivery, coordinate an integrated team, and manage interfaces with the client and subcontractors. The position focuses on program control, risk management, and HSQE compliance to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery of station upgrades and rail frameworks. This is a hands-on leadership role with visibility across commercial and delivery reporting and opportunities to influence project success.

Responsibilities

• Define project scope and responsibilities across the team
• Coordinate information flow among project stakeholders and third parties
• Lead HSQE management and approve IMS plans
• Manage procurement deadlines and contract programmes
• Oversee procurement of works packages and subcontracting decisions
• Control project progress and change management processes
• Provide regular commercial and delivery reporting to stakeholders
• Support recruitment and training needs for project delivery

Key requirements

• Degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or similar
• Previous experience as a Project Manager on Civil Rail projects
• Project management experience
• Excellent leadership and tendering skills
• Valid Full UK driver’s licence
