Overview
In this role you will lead the design of RF/mmW elements and systems for telecoms and defence products, from concept to production. You will provide technical leadership across design activities and help drive best practices within the engineering team. You’ll work with RF/mmW sub-circuits, modules and systems, ensuring performance, cost and manufacturability targets are met. You will collaborate with mechanical, electronics, PCB, manufacturing and test teams to deliver robust designs and support verification, qualification and production readiness. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of RF/mmW sub-circuits, sub-modules and systems within telecommunications and defence products
- Own RF/mmW specification, design, simulation, realisation and verification
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers
- Conduct system line-up analysis, tolerance analysis and design for manufacture
- Assist in selecting components, ICs and MMICs and liaise with suppliers
- Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, PCB layout, manufacturing and test teams to deliver robust designs
- Prepare and review design documentation, logs, data packs, peer reviews and release information
- Lead and participate in design reviews, manage technical risks
- Support design verification and validation including test specs and reliability testing
- Assist problem solving and fault diagnosis during product introduction and production
- Ensure designs meet project technical, schedule and cost targets
Key requirements
- Degree or equivalent in RF, Microwave, Electronics or Communications Engineering
- Significant experience in RF/mmW circuit or system design
- Experience with RF design tools (Microwave Office, CST, EMPro or ADS)
- Strong microwave circuit design, system line-up, tolerance/yield and design for manufacture expertise
- Experience with transceiver, amplifier, filter, module or subsystem design beneficial
- Ability to lead technical activities and mentor other engineers
- Strong problem-solving skills and practical delivery approach
