Hire Controller

Overview

In this role you will deliver first‑class customer service to external customers, suppliers and internal colleagues while driving revenue growth and profitability. You will manage the full customer journey from quote to invoice, coordinate with multiple divisions and suppliers, and ensure processes and margins are followed. You’ll work in a cross‑functional environment to raise the profile of Vp Rental Solutions across divisions and customers. This is a hands‑on role that combines client focus with process discipline to unlock opportunities and deliver seamless service.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries within SLAs in a professional and timely manner
• Aim to meet or exceed the target quote‑to‑order conversion rate set by the line manager
• Secure orders by understanding customer needs and markets to offer the best solution
• Coordinate with Vp divisions and suppliers to deliver seamless service
• Maintain target margins across product categories and follow processes
• Oversee the full customer journey from initial quote to customer invoice
• Accurately use G42 to ensure correct charges to customers and payments to suppliers
• Attach supporting documents to orders in G42 (POD/POC)
• Achieve KPIs such as revenue, margin, call and email metrics, and issue resolution
• Utilise systems (Softco, Zendesk, CXone, G42) effectively
• Maintain health and safety awareness and report concerns to line manager

Key requirements

• Proven experience in delivering first‑class customer service (ideally telephone based)
• Articulate communicator who is revenue‑driven and works well in a team
• Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines with attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Desirable: prior experience in the Hire industry
