Overview
In this Nationally based role, you will lead the interaction design for HMCTS digital services. You’ll work within the User-Centred Design team to create accessible, user-led interactions across channels, supported by research and data. You’ll shape end-to-end service interactions, prototypes, and design strategies that meet user needs and business goals. This role offers the chance to influence cross-government digital delivery and contribute to justice services used by the public and staff.

Responsibilities
- Lead interaction quality within multidisciplinary teams
- Design optimal user interactions across devices and channels based on research insights
- Mentor other interaction designers to raise quality and consistency
- Contribute to interaction design strategies and design systems
- Develop and maintain prototypes for user testing
- Use data and evidence to justify design decisions and drive improvements
- Champion accessibility and WCAG 2.2 compliance
- Scope and improve user-centred interactions based on feedback and data
- Collaborate with HMCTS and cross-government communities
- Engage with frontline staff to identify pain points and iterate fixes
- Build long-term stakeholder relationships and remove blockers to meet user needs
- Collaborate with User Research, Performance Analysis, Service and Content Design, Insight, and Accessibility teams
Key requirements
- Essential interaction design skills for end-to-end services
- Prototyping methods and ability to prototype in code
- Ability to influence decisions and remove blockers to maintain user-centric design
- Knowledge of design standards and ability to mentor others
- Experience delivering in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines
- Ability to translate complex processes into usable interactions
