Algorithm Specialist

Overview

As Algorithm Specialist, you will develop and mature algorithms across the full life cycle for Weapon and Missile Systems within the GCN team. You will shape concepts from initial idea through in-service support, driving performance in control, navigation, and guidance domains. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions and advanced data fusion and mission planning capabilities. This is a chance to contribute to cutting-edge defence technology and impact real-world systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative algorithms in Control, Navigation, Guidance, Tracking, Data Fusion, and Mission Planning
• Work on complex concepts and products with a specialist engineering team
• Collaborate with Simulation & Modelling, Image Processing, Software, Navigation Sensors, HIL, Systems Design & Validation, Seekers & Sensors, Datalinks, and Quality
• Contribute to development and support of complex weapon systems throughout their lifecycle

Key requirements

• Degree qualification or equivalent experience in a subject with mathematical content
• Experience in algorithm research and/or product development and support
• Domain knowledge in Flight Dynamics, Aerodynamics, Sensors, Servo Systems, Actuators, Autonomous Systems, Robotics, or Mechatronics
• Proficiency in algorithms knowledge including Modern/Classical Control, Navigation, Data Fusion, Tracking and Guidance, Machine Learning
• Familiarity with Matlab, Simulink, Python, C/C++, PyTorch, OpenAI-Gym/Universe, Model-based design
• Keen interest in innovative technologies and their applications
