Managing Quantity Surveyors- Rail

Overview

In this role you will lead senior quantity surveying activities for rail projects, ensuring financial discipline and timely delivery. You will guide a commercial team, liaise with clients, and implement cost controls to protect project profitability. You’ll influence tendering, risk management, and value engineering to support strategic rail initiatives. This position offers impact across projects in Waterloo and the Wessex region, with occasional site travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior quantity surveying services to clients
• Prepare tenders and bids
• Perform internal cost and value reconciliations
• Budget control and forecasting across projects
• Direct client liaison and dispute resolution
• Monitor subcontract procurement
• Identify and implement new control systems
• Manage a commercial team
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
• Undertake contract administration including change management and registers

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Chartership (Professional acknowledgment)
• Rail sector experience
• Experience managing a team of on-site staff
• Permanent position availability
• Travel willingness as required
