Overview

In this role you will provide strategic operational leadership to deliver safe, high-quality patient care across multi-site services. You will work closely with the Executive Chief Operating Officer and colleagues to drive performance, governance and financial discipline in a constrained environment. You will lead transformation through digital innovation and pathway redesign, partnering with ICBs and primary care to deliver system-wide improvements. This role offers scope to shape service delivery within a rural and remote NHS setting and influence cross-organisational collaboration. You will be a visible leader, inspiring teams to achieve ambitious objectives and sustain service excellence

Responsibilities

  • Lead general managers and clinical teams to deliver safe, effective, and timely patient care
  • Manage capacity, demand, clinical risks, and key national performance standards
  • Oversee large departmental budgets, drive efficiency and ensure financial discipline
  • Lead digital innovation, pathway redesign, and service standardisation across multi-site operations
  • Collaborate with executive leads, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), and primary or private care partners
  • Provide leadership and management for all Clinical Services
  • Develop and maintain an operational leadership structure aligned with the integrated care model
  • Support governance, risk management and quality assurance across services

Key requirements

  • Masters Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Track record of managing complex multi-disciplinary services with significant resources
  • Strong business orientation and budget management experience
  • Experience analysing the business environment and shaping strategies
  • Experience with quality, risk management and governance systems
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and NICE guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with negotiation and influencing abilities
  • Ability to engage staff across levels and deliver transformational change
  • IT literate with advanced spreadsheet and project software skills
