Overview

In this role you lead the delivery of R&D tax engagements for clients, focusing on UK incentive schemes and HMRC reporting. You will work within EY’s Global Grants, Credits and Incentives team to support growth in London, collaborating with engineers, tax and finance teams across sectors. You will mentor junior professionals, manage client expectations, and help win new work while maintaining high-quality service. Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of R&D tax services for clients
• Review technical project reports to extract key R&D factors for claims
• Support the development of junior scientists/engineers in the team
• Build and maintain high-quality client relationships with service focus
• Identify opportunities and manage external/client expectations
• Contribute to winning new work and proactively engage existing clients
• Manage day-to-day client liaison

Key requirements

• Experienced R&D tax practitioner
• Ability to read and interpret tax statutes
• Team player with quick integration into new teams
• Outgoing with strong relationship skills and ability to deliver quality output
• Strong technical skills with willingness to develop further
• Proven client relationship management and risk identification
• Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
• Effective communication and negotiation skills; collaborative management approach
• Engineering or Science degree qualified
• Experience managing R&D claim delivery under SME, RDEC, and merged schemes (2+ years)
