Planning Solicitor

Overview

In this role you will join a Legal 500-listed planning team in Suffolk to handle a broad range of planning matters for developers, landowners and authorities. You will work closely with the real estate group to manage projects from inception to completion, supporting growth of the planning offering. The position offers autonomy and the potential route to partnership, with high‑quality work and a collaborative culture. You will contribute to business development and client relationships while mentoring junior colleagues. This is an opportunity to shape a well-regarded practice and its future growth in the region.

Responsibilities

• advise on planning applications, appeals, and enforcement
• manage planning obligations including Section 106 and highways agreements
• support development projects from inception to completion
• strengthen and expand the firm’s planning offering
• collaborate with the real estate team on varied caseloads

Key requirements

• 5+ years PQE in planning law
• qualified Solicitor
• strong technical knowledge across planning matters
• experience advising diverse clients on contentious and non-contentious issues
• excellent commercial awareness and client relationship skills
• proactive business development and networking
• strong communication and leadership, mentoring junior colleagues
• client following advantageous for partners (not essential)
