Overview

As Regional Director, Scotland, you will steer Bank of Scotland’s commercial banking franchise in Scotland, aiming to become the region’s leading bank by 2030. You will set regional strategy, mobilize cross‑functional teams, and nurture key partnerships to drive sustainable growth and strong client outcomes. The role emphasizes prudent risk management, governance, and protecting the group’s culture and reputation. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders and act as the Scottish ambassador to strengthen the bank’s profile and market leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute an integrated regional strategy for SME, Business Banking and Mid Market with turnover up to 500m
  • Build influential relationships with clients, regulators, industry bodies and strategic partners
  • Represent Scotland in Group and leadership forums and champion the Bank’s brand and external profile
  • Own regional financial performance including income, deposits, lending and balance sheet metrics
  • Lead sales effectiveness, origination discipline and performance management across regional teams
  • Ensure governance, risk management and conduct standards are embedded regionally
  • Provide inspirational leadership, coach senior teams, and build succession and capability
  • Partner with Product, Risk, Marketing, and Technology to deploy capabilities and deliver seamless client outcomes
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and contribute to enterprise decision-making

Key requirements

  • Significant executive leadership experience at enterprise, national or large regional level
  • Proven track record in growing commercial banking businesses and managing P&L and balance sheet
  • Deep understanding of SME, Mid Market and Commercial Banking sectors up to 500m turnover
  • Experience engaging with government, regulators and external stakeholders
  • Success in shaping market, sector or growth strategies and leading large, dispersed teams
  • Experience with risk judgement in regulated environments and in sales origination and performance
  • Desirable: media engagement or investor-style communications
