Overview

As a Senior Manager in the global LPM team, you will advance the firm’s legal project management capability to drive profitability, efficiency, and client service excellence. You’ll coordinate cross-border projects with lawyers, clients, and support teams, shaping scope, timelines, and budgets for complex matters. You’ll lead delivery across jurisdictions, promoting lean principles and continuous improvement. This role offers impact through governance, training, and collaboration with senior stakeholders to roll out LPM best practices. Your work ties financial discipline to strategic growth in a fast-moving, multinational legal environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build out and promote LPM capability and project pipeline, engaging Partners and lawyers to adopt LPM
  • Co-deliver legal projects by organizing Kick-Off, Team, and Steering Meetings with appropriate governance and records
  • Define and validate project scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies
  • Manage project budgets and track costs, escalate variances, and implement corrective actions
  • Identify and manage risks and issues with mitigation options
  • Lead post-project reviews and Lessons Learned sessions
  • Draft and maintain project artefacts and documents (plans, schedules, trackers, risk logs, status reports)
  • Implement robust communications with Clients, lawyers, offices, external counsel, and vendors
  • Provide LPM guidance on best practices, tools, roles, and responsibilities
  • Collaborate with legal teams to optimize resources and draft budget proposals; monitor actuals against budget with Finance
  • Foster cross-team relationships and client-centric collaboration across matter workstreams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of LPM processes, governance, and training
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and client portfolios with a focus on legal operations
  • Line manage Junior team members and contribute to talent development
  • Support bids, tenders, and pitches with LPM collateral; contribute to training content for lawyers and clients
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell LPM services across the global business
  • Be a key contact for Partners and senior stakeholders; present at Senior Leadership and Client meetings

Key requirements

  • Experience of Legal Project Management in a professional services environment
  • Proven track record managing project teams for complex, multi-jurisdictional matters
  • Experience of change management
  • Knowledge of extranets, online data rooms, collaboration tools, legal tech, and SharePoint; strong Office 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Power BI)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, cross-functional work, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with senior stakeholders
  • Understanding of law firm financial and performance metrics and ability to analyze financial reports
  • Problem solving mindset, willingness to challenge assumptions
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills

  • Graduate-level academic record; Law degree advantageous; formal PM qualification essential (APMQ or PMP)
