Tradewind Education are currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a successful secondary school partnership in Bradford. We have opportunities available for candidates seeking day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term assignments, offering flexibility to suit your availability and career goals.
The Role
- Supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring students remain engaged with their work.
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies and expectations.
- Providing a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Supporting students with their learning where appropriate.
- Taking attendance and reporting any concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Ensuring students complete the work provided by their classroom teacher.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and behaviour.
- Following school safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other school staff.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to confidently supervise groups of secondary-aged students.
- A calm, professional and positive approach.
- The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
- Flexibility and reliability.
- A genuine commitment to supporting students’ education and wellbeing.
- A good understanding of safeguarding within an educational environment.
- Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Tutor or similar role is desirable.
- Graduates who are considering a career in teaching are also encouraged to apply.
