NEC Project Manager – South East England/ London

Overview

As an NEC Project Manager at Jacobs, you guide complex transport projects through NEC contracts, from scope development to construction closeout. You’ll lead cross‑functional teams, ensure clear communication, and keep projects on time, on budget, and compliant with NEC principles. You’ll influence outcomes on major highways and rail schemes across the UK & Ireland, contributing to a growing NEC capability and centre of excellence. This is a hands-on, impact‑driven role with a clear pathway to shaping industry best practice.

Responsibilities

• Act as the client’s representative to ensure project clarity and momentum
• Manage NEC contract processes, including early warnings and compensation events
• Lead multidisciplinary teams (supervisors, planners, cost controllers) to align on programme, scope and budget
• Shape Scope and Contract documentation with design teams to set foundations for construction
• Apply NEC3 Works Information or NEC4 Scope knowledge to reassure clients
• Make timely, well‑reasoned decisions using programming concepts (float, logic links, concurrency, Key Dates) during construction
• Advise and support colleagues to raise NEC best practice across Jacobs
• Contribute to a centre of excellence by expanding NEC capability across the organisation
• Support major highways and rail projects across the UK and Ireland

Key requirements

• Accredited NEC Project Manager (NECReg)
• Degree in engineering, construction or another built environment subject
• Proven hands-on project management experience on live construction sites
• Ability to manage change and maintain positive relationships with Clients, Contractors and internal teams
• Experience managing contractors, consultants and other advisors on large (≥£20m) and complex projects in regulated environments
• Strong understanding of programming concepts and NEC contract alignment
