Mental Health Support Team Practitioner/ Senior Wellbeing Practitioner

Overview

In this role you will work within Lewisham CAMHS MHST to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will supervise Education Mental Health Practitioners and contribute to service development while managing a defined caseload. As MHST Link Practitioner you will liaise with schools, education staff, and partner services to deliver focused, evidence-based interventions. You will operate as an autonomous specialist practitioner, applying outcome-based approaches to care within a whole-system education setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage a defined caseload of CYP with emotional health difficulties in school settings
• Coordinate and deliver individualised care packages and evaluate outcomes
• Provide specialist mental health advice, consultation and signposting using an outcome-based triage model
• Act as autonomous specialist practitioner with ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness
• Liaise with schools, CAMHS colleagues, and external agencies as the MHST Link Practitioner
• Work with school-based and community health professionals on joint assessments
• Contribute to service delivery and development, focusing on care pathways and MHST growth
• Ensure practice aligns with legal, ethical, and professional parameters and safeguard requirements

Key requirements

• Core professional training (mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or equivalent)
• Current professional registration with the relevant statutory body
• Significant mental health experience, preferably in CAMHS or schools
• Experience supervising junior staff or trainees
• Experience with Cognitive Behavioural interventions
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate risk/care plans
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage own workload autonomously
• Ability to supervise and develop student and junior staff
