Construction Manager – Infrastructure

Overview

As Construction Supervisor, you will steward site safety for Mace and the client, coordinating with diverse stakeholders to ensure compliance and quality throughout construction. You will review works, audit records, and manage reporting using Eco online, while supporting risk control, defect resolution, and handover activities. This role sits within a project-driven, safety-focused environment in a utilities infrastructure context with a strong emphasis on RAMs, testing, and water hygiene principles. You will shape on-site practices, influence outcomes, and work closely with project teams to deliver safe, compliant infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Direct site safety for Mace and client
• Review, record and audit ongoing works for compliance
• Attend programme/project meetings and use Eco online for reporting
• Conduct site surveys, identify hazards and complete risk assessments
• Assist Project Managers in managing contractors and construction risks
• Monitor contractor performance and maintain construction activity records
• Review contractor procedures for RAMs, standards, and specifications
• Ensure compliance of activities and materials with standards and legislation
• Investigate non-conformances and lead defect resolution
• Witness testing/commissioning, manage acceptance, and oversee handover including snagging
• Provide technical construction expertise and uphold water hygiene principles

Key requirements

• Significant experience on major, complex infrastructure projects in live environments
• Strong HSE, quality, commissioning and buildability expertise across multi‑disciplinary delivery
• Proven team leadership, programme management and NEC4 contract knowledge
• Proven experience in controlling quality and workmanship during construction
• Knowledge of water industry standard specifications
• Relevant CSCS card and/or SMSTS accreditation
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Full UK driving licence
• Working towards MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE or equivalent is desirable
• NEC 4 ECC supervisor is desirable but not essential
