Claims Data Scientist

Overview

In this role you will deliver high-quality MI and reporting to support key decisions within the Delegated Authority Claims Team. You will analyse claims data to uncover trends, ensure data integrity, and drive improvements through robust reporting strategies. You’ll collaborate on system changes and projects, providing insights that enhance portfolio oversight and regulatory compliance. This is a data- and analytics-focused position in a regulated, cross-functional environment with a clear impact on business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, timely reports and MI to support decision-making
• Analyse claims data to identify trends, underperformance, and actionable insights
• Design, develop, and maintain robust data models ensuring data integrity across clients
• Validate metrics and improve data quality for accurate calculations
• Create KPI reports and root-cause analyses for internal stakeholders
• Develop data project roadmaps and support data-related workshops and projects
• Assist with loss runs and claims selection for audits and due diligences
• Participate in special projects (conduct risk, consumer duty, KPIs) and ad hoc reporting

Key requirements

• Associate degree/BA and several years data analysis experience
• Proficient in SQL; experienced with Power BI, Excel, VBA, DAX; knowledge of Azure DevOps
• Experience building dashboards, KPI scorecards, and visual reports
• Practical experience with R or Python
• Understanding of insurance and reinsurance processes
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and drive improvements
• Regulatory reporting experience and familiarity with FCA/PRA requirements
