Plant Finance Lead

Overview

As Plant Finance Lead, you partner with manufacturing leaders across Harwell, Laval, and an External CMO to drive financial transparency, cost control, and strategic investment decisions. You influence manufacturing performance through budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, supporting capacity expansion and process improvements. You’ll collaborate with global teams and leverage innovative approaches to enhance forecasting and decision-making in a high-growth, regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning for multiple sites and the External CMO.
• Deliver monthly financial analysis, variance reporting, and performance insights to site leadership and Corporate Finance.
• Develop and monitor KPIs for manufacturing efficiency, labor utilization, overhead absorption, and inventory management.
• Support scenario modeling and financial analysis for operational initiatives, capacity expansion, and process improvements.
• Oversee standard costing, product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for inventories (raw materials, WIP, finished goods).
• Analyze variances in labor, material usage, scrap, yield, and overhead; identify cost-reduction opportunities with Operations.
• Lead monthly/quarterly/annual financial close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and site-level reporting.
• Coordinate with Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, and External Auditors to ensure timely, compliant reporting.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on capital investment proposals, business cases, spend monitoring, and NPV/ROI analysis.
• Support Supply Chain and External CMO operations to improve inventory accuracy, turns, working capital, and controls.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX, policies, and regulatory standards; support audits and process standardization.
• Act as trusted advisor to Site Leadership, translating finance data into actionable operational insights.
• Collaborate across international teams and mentor finance colleagues as appropriate.

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience with manufacturing focus
• Experience as Plant Controller or Operations Finance Lead preferred
• Strong costing, inventory, and manufacturing operations knowledge
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or regulated manufacturing preferred
• Detail-oriented with accuracy in reporting and data analysis
• Adaptable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in a global context
• Initiative, proactivity, and problem-solving mindset
• Advanced Excel and ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
