Senior New Product Development Scientist

Overview

In this role you support the development of powders, pastes, capsules, tablets and other formats, contributing to both new products and improvements. You will work in the Technical & Development team to plan, run and supervise trials, coordinating with contract manufacturers and the development scientists to ensure scalable, reliable formulations. You’ll use ERP for documentation and reporting, maintain project records, and uphold safety and regulatory standards while helping bring pet dietary supplements to market.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities required for the launch of business-ready solutions in human and animal health
• Maintain project records for innovation and business-ready projects
• Plan, execute and supervise trials using contract manufacturers and development suite equipment
• Provide technical know-how for pet dietary supplement formulations aligned with senior management
• Support setup of new products with contract manufacturers
• Define manufacturing parameters for novel formulations with the development team for scalability and consistency
• Interpret and enforce manufacturing and experimental instructions; use ERP for documentation, scheduling and tracking
• Operate laboratory and test equipment safely with COSHH awareness and adhere to safety/regulatory guidelines
• Undertake required training in laboratory procedures, safety and equipment operation

Key requirements

• IT knowledge to operate ERP and present development reports
• Aptitude for problem solving, self-motivation and initiative
• Degree in physical / material sciences, chemistry; microbiology understanding useful
• Experience in project management
• Experience with animal feeds
• Experience with contract manufacturers ideal
• Familiarity with powder products (capsules, tablets, stick packs) ideal
• Work experience in animal feed or nutraceutical development advantageous
