Overview
As Commercial Manager on a London Rail project, you drive commercial results by leading a small team and overseeing all commercial aspects from procurement to cash flow. You shape the project’s commercial strategy, ensure contract compliance, and maintain strong client relationships to deliver value for all parties. You will work closely with project teams and senior leaders to manage costs, forecasting, and risk, enabling on-time, on-budget delivery. This role offers scale, responsibility, and the chance to influence major rail works for a top-tier contractor.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project commercial team and manage all commercial aspects (CVRs, forecasting, procurement, supply chain)
- Oversee payment applications to agreed timescales and client agreement
- Set and oversee the commercial strategy and ensure team competency and training
- Ensure cost/value reporting procedures are followed and financial controls are in place
- Collaborate with project teams on major decisions affecting project outcomes
- Maintain client relationships and deliver cost-effective outcomes for all parties
Key requirements
- Commercial Management experience on major projects for a first tier contractor
- Experience of claims production and negotiation
- Experience using major forms of contract (NEC, ICE, NR9/12 etc.)
- Good understanding of construction law
