Overview

As Data Science Manager in Monzo’s Financial Crime Data Team, you lead a cross-functional group of data scientists and analysts to advance detection, prevention and mitigation of financial crime. You partner with Product, Risk and Engineering, shaping the data strategy and driving product-focused insights. You champion data-driven decisions with real-time analytics and Looker-powered self-serve insights. Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts in collaboration with Analytics Engineers
• Drive the financial crime strategy through data-led insights and product-oriented analytics
• Collaborate with Product, Risk and Engineering to ensure the right data is collected for insights
• Hire, develop and retain talent; mentor team members and support their professional growth
• Structure and manage complex projects translating data work into product changes and business impact
• Foster data-driven decision making across the organization and promote self-serve analytics

Key requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Science Manager
• 2+ years leading a team of more than 4 people
• Strong strategic data leadership with stakeholder management across levels and disciplines
• Proven ability to hire, develop and retain top data talent
• Experience with diverse DS tools from BI and experimentation to ML; proficient in Python and SQL
• Experience in financial crime, fraud detection, or related areas (preferred)
