Data Management Manager – Corporate & Institutional Banking

Overview

In this role you will lead data management efforts within the Corporate & Institutional Banking Data Office, shaping governance and controls to meet regulatory standards. You’ll collaborate with business, technology and data teams to embed consistent data practices and improve data value across the organisation. You’ll focus on metadata and risk-aware data management while enabling AI-enabled solutions and broader data strategy delivery. This is an opportunity to influence data capabilities at scale in a complex banking environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead metadata initiatives to satisfy regulatory obligations and manage a small team across locations
• Investigate data issues to identify root causes, dependencies and risks
• Embed data standards, controls and consistent ways of working with CIB, Group functions and technology
• Ensure critical data assets and quality requirements are understood, implemented and monitored
• Create communications, guidance and standards for diverse audiences including senior leaders
• Support data management practices within change initiatives to maximise data value and strengthen risk management
• Contribute to data management strategy, governance and control effectiveness across CIB
• Engage with the Group’s data practitioner community to build data culture and capability
• Contribute to committee and board-level reporting and governance materials
• Champion improvements that enhance data capabilities and enable innovation, including AI-enabled solutions

Key requirements

• 5+ years in data management, data governance, metadata management or related discipline
• Knowledge of metadata, data lineage, data quality, master/reference data and data products
• Experience delivering cross-functional data initiatives and aligning teams
• Ability to analyse data and translate concepts into insights for business teams
• Experience implementing data controls, supporting compliance and resolving data integrity issues
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills across business, technology and control functions
• Working knowledge of Collibra, Ataccama, Dataplex, CI/CD practices and Google Cloud (advantageous)
