Senior Project Surveyor (Construction Consultancy)

Overview

As a Senior Project Surveyor in our Southampton team, you drive comprehensive cost management for complex building projects, partnering with clients and the project team to deliver value and quality. You lead CM commissions, mentor junior staff, and ensure timely, high-quality outputs that meet client needs. You engage across residential, commercial, and education sectors, applying your cost, value, and risk expertise to shape project outcomes. This role combines technical leadership with client-facing impact in a global, innovation-driven firm.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver Cost Management commissions end-to-end
• Provide full CM duties: pre-contract estimating, procurement, contract administration, cost reporting, final account resolution
• Mentor and develop Project Surveyors, Graduates and Apprentices
• Ensure commissions are completed on time and to client satisfaction
• Build strong relationships with clients and project team
• Serve as primary interface with clients (new and existing)
• Ensure staff training is current and relevant
• Deliver CM outputs aligned with agreed timescales and quality standards

Key requirements

• Proven experience in a consulting CM environment with full scope of services
• Ability to advise on cost, value and risk (not cost in isolation)
• Excellent IT skills with digital measurement, cost planning and tender document tools
• Understanding of various project types/sectors; Residential, Commercial, Education experience advantageous
• Ability to work autonomously, collaborating with Senior Cost Managers and Associates
