W&A is supporting an established organisation in Edinburgh with the appointment of an Interim Financial Controller. This is a broad, hands-on assignment with responsibility across financial reporting, controls and day-to-day finance operations, working closely with senior stakeholders and leading a finance team.

Working Arrangements: 4 days per week in the office

The Opportunity

n

n

The Interim Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls and effective financial operations. The remit also includes team leadership, senior stakeholder support and involvement in finance systems and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

n

n

n
• Lead monthly management accounts, consolidated reporting and analysis of financial performance.

n

• Maintain and strengthen financial controls across core accounting and transactional finance processes.

n

• Lead the year-end, statutory accounts and external audit process.

n

• Oversee cash management, working capital, banking transactions and payment controls.

n

• Review payroll costs, staffing trends and associated balance sheet reconciliations.

n

• Lead and develop the finance team across accounting, transactional finance and credit control.

n

• Provide financial insight to senior and operational stakeholders and support wider finance projects.

n

• Drive improvements to finance systems, reporting tools, processes and controls.

n

What You’ll Bring

• Strong financial control and management reporting experience.

n

• Experience leading day-to-day finance operations and maintaining a robust control environment.

n

• The ability to lead a finance team and work effectively with senior and operational stakeholders.

n

• A hands-on approach, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver accurate reporting to deadline.

n

• Experience of finance systems and process improvement.

n

Package & Benefits

• £350–£450 per day.

• 4 days per week in the Edinburgh city centre office.
