Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment are supporting a growing organisation based in Kingswells, Aberdeen to recruit an Assistant Accountant to their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous finance experience who enjoys working across a broad range of accounting responsibilities and is looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The position is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working available.

The Opportunityn

As an Assistant Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting month-end activities, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the business.

n

Responsibilities will include:

n

    n

  • Preparing and performing bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • n

  • Raising and processing sales invoices, ensuring accurate recording of revenue and customer transactions
  • n

  • Supporting credit control activities
  • n

  • Assisting with month-end close activities, including the preparation and posting of journals
  • n

  • Supporting the Accountant with reconciliations, financial analysis and reporting requirements
  • n

  • Setting up manual payments and BACS payment runs through banking portals
  • n

  • Preparing cash-in-transit reconciliations and resolving outstanding items
  • n

  • Preparing and submitting National Statistics returns
  • n

  • Supporting VAT compliance by preparing analysis and information for external tax advisors
  • n

  • Assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and internal policies
  • n

  • Supporting cashflow forecasting activities
  • n

  • Assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks and reporting requirements
  • n

Background and Experiencen

We're looking for someone who:

n

    n

  • Has at least 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role
  • n

  • Is confident using Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel
  • n

  • Has strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • n

  • Can manage competing priorities and work effectively to tight month-end deadlines
  • n

  • Has strong communication skills and can build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • n

  • Is comfortable working independently and using their own initiative
  • n

  • Demonstrates a professional and proactive approach to their work
  • n
