Family Solicitor – Public Law Care – Gloucestershire

Overview

In this role you will manage a caseload of public law children matters within a collaborative Family Law team. You will represent parents, children and other parties in care proceedings, handling hearings, applications, and advocacy in the Family Court. You will work closely with CAFCASS, local authorities, and professionals to ensure high-quality, legally compliant outcomes. This position offers exposure to complex cases in a supportive, growth-oriented environment with a clear focus on vulnerable clients and meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of public law children matters
• Represent parents, children and other parties in care proceedings
• Handle case management hearings, interim applications and contested hearings
• Advise on child protection, local authority intervention and threshold issues
• Draft statements, position statements, and bundles
• Conduct advocacy in the Family Court
• Collaborate with counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities and other professionals
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory standards

Key requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ PQE in Family Law
• Strong experience in public law care work and Legal Aid matters
• Knowledge of private family work (divorce/finance) beneficial
• Experience supervising or willingness to supervise
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive matters professionally
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Panel membership (Children or Family) advantageous
