Claims Underwriter, Casualty Lines

Overview

In this role you will support casualty claims underwriter functions from our London office, coordinating with the Head of Casualty Claims. You will analyze coverage and quantum, review bordereau, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to drive timely reserving and reporting. The position offers exposure to cyber, medical malpractice, and other liability lines within a dynamic, collaborative specialty insurer. You will work across cross-functional teams to shape claims strategy and service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Assist with handling claims within the Casualty Claims division, analyzing coverage and quantum within authority and escalating for high-value matters
• Review bordereau presentations for accuracy and processing
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (Claims team, Underwriters, Reinsurers, Actuaries, Management)
• Develop relationships with external stakeholders (brokers, loss adjusters, lawyers, TPAs)
• Ensure timely reserving and reporting
• Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and procedures
• Attend external client and broker meetings as required
• Attend networking events as appropriate
• Assist with operational tasks as required

Key requirements

• Experience in the London insurance market in underwriting, claims, or broking
• Understanding of insurance policies with cyber claims handling and third party liability claims handling experience
• Understanding of Lloyd’s Claims schemes
• Familiarity with ECF preferred but not essential
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical skills
