Senior Operational Manager Sterile Services and Medical Engineering

Overview

In this role you will lead the EBME and Sterile Services operations across SWFT and GEH, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality medical devices support. You will drive performance, standardisation, and continuous improvement while managing budgets, procurement and capital plans. You’ll develop multidisciplinary teams and partner with senior leaders to deliver value for money and patient-centred care. This is a strategic, cross-site leadership position with a strong focus on governance, innovation, and service transformation.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational management for EBME and Sterile Services across SWFT and GEH
• Oversee quality, governance, and performance across both departments
• Drive service improvement, innovation and value for money
• Manage budgets, procurement, contracts and capital planning
• Develop and lead multidisciplinary teams
• Promote standardisation and alignment of policies and procedures across sites
• Ensure compliance with national standards and procurement frameworks

Key requirements

• Significant senior-level healthcare management experience (min. 5 years)
• Background in healthcare, medical engineering, decontamination, estates or facilities
• Proven budget control, service improvement and governance experience
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills
