Associate Healthcare Scientist – Medical Engineering

Overview

In this role you contribute to Clinical Engineering services within MEMD, ensuring maintenance, repair and safe, reliable medical devices for patient care. You will support acceptance testing, device rollouts and trust-wide resuscitation equipment schemes, working closely with clinical teams. The role combines hands-on diagnostics with safe device disposal and equipment readiness in a hospital setting. This opportunity lets you influence patient safety and device reliability across the Trust, in a clinically-led, award-winning organisation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, servicing, inspection and repair on non-complex to moderately complex medical devices
• Perform routine fault-finding with diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve issues
• Support safe condemnation and disposal of medical devices
• Conduct acceptance testing for new and loaned equipment before clinical use
• Assist with rollout of newly accepted devices into clinical areas
• Contribute to Trust-wide resuscitation equipment schemes to ensure readiness and compliance

Key requirements

• Level 4 qualification in Electrical/Mechanical/Medical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in maintenance and repairs of a range of complex and moderately complex medical devices
• Knowledge of acceptance testing, PPM, electrical safety testing, fault finding, and use of test equipment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for team liaison with clinical colleagues
• Additional training from manufacturers for non-complex and moderately complex devices
• Desirable: Driving Licence
• Desirable: Healthcare environment experience
