Acute Medicine Consultant

Overview

In this role you will join the expanding Acute Medicine team to support development of integrated front-door services, including the Medical Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. You will work within a cross-functional environment to improve patient flow, collaborate with front-line teams, and contribute to service development and education. The position offers part-time or full-time arrangements and opportunities to lead subspecialty interests. This is a pivotal role at an exciting stage of service transformation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and provide evidence-based care
• Maintain responsibility for patient care and complete related administrative duties
• Develop subspecialty interests aligned with division needs and Trust strategy
• Lead teaching, examinations, and continuing medical education activities
• Provide cover for colleagues during leave as per Trust policy
• Engage in clinical audits and CME activities
• Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota
• Contribute to governance, risk management, and policy development
• Supervise junior colleagues and contribute to departmental teaching programs
• Support divisions in achieving budgetary and resource utilisation goals
• Lead improvements in patient experience through service changes
• Contribute to division annual governance plans and quality strategies

Key requirements

• GMC registration (fully registered)
• MRCP (UK) or equivalent
• Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at interview
• Clinical training/experience equivalent to UK CCT
• Ability to lead a multi-professional team and take independent clinical responsibility
