Overview

In this role you join the Longevity Pricing team to support pricing leads and mentor junior colleagues. You will apply technical pricing and biometric insights to create quotes, analyze experience, and review assumptions for longevity propositions. You’ll balance commercial needs with risk, interact with senior stakeholders, and help improve pricing tools and processes. This position offers exposure to cross-functional collaboration and the chance to influence longevity reinsurance strategy within a global leader.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert in pricing and biometric components for longevity business
  • Represent the team to senior management and other departments with clear results
  • Review teammates’ outputs for quotes and projects, ensuring correct data use and accurate experience analysis and pricing assumptions; support commercial negotiations
  • Understand financial implications across metrics to balance commercial and risk considerations
  • Develop relationships with the commercial Longevity team and build branch-wide contacts
  • Mentor and develop junior Pricing team members; provide constructive feedback
  • Suggest and implement improvements to pricing tools and processes; adopt new technology
  • Contribute to development and review of Longevity basis and assumptions; support new propositions
  • Participate in non-technical team discussions (people and culture) and engage in branch programs

Key requirements

  • UK life insurance market or pensions knowledge
  • Knowledge of Pricing processes including experience analysis, assumptions setting, modelling methodology
  • Prior Pricing experience; reinsurance pricing experience preferred
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgement under uncertainty
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences
  • Confidence to challenge peers and manage upwards
  • Stakeholder management across technical and senior levels
  • Literacy in Excel and Word; experience with R, Python, VBA; Power BI desirable
